Kaunergrat Nature Park
The Kaunergrat nature park project (Pitztal/Kaunertal) started in 1998 and was officially recognised as ‘Kaunergrat Nature Park’ in July 2003.
The nature park is located in the Tyrolean Oberland. The park covers an area of 58,920 hectares and stretches over the districts of Landeck and Imst.
In the middle of the Ötztal Alps
The Kaunergrat is the heart of the nature park and gives it its name. It separates the two neighbouring valleys, Pitztal and Kaunertal, and is part of the Ötztal Alps massif. The landscape, suggestive of the ice age, covers all levels of altitude and offers an incredible amount of diversity in natural beauties as well as regional characteristics.
The nature park aims to connect nature, tourism and economy. It offers programmes for guests in winter and summer that offer natural beauty and peculiarities from our glacial region that can be experienced off the slope.
