FIS regulations

1. Courtesy on the piste

Consideration of other skiers and snowboarders. Every skier and snowboarder must behave in such a way that no other person is put at risk or injured.

2. Speed and ski control

Every skier and snowboarder must be able to see and control where they are going. The speed and way of skiing must be appropriate for the skill and the terrain, the snow and weather conditions and the number of other people on the slope.

3. Selecting a lane

Skiers and snowboarders coming up from behind must select a lane for themselves that does not interfere with the paths of skiers and snowboarders ahead.

4. Overtaking

Passing others on the piste is allowed from above or below, from the right or the left, but always at a distance that leaves the person to be overtaken enough room for any possible manoeuvre.

5. Entering, starting and going uphill

All skiers and snowboarders entering a slope, restarting after a stop or wishing to ski or swing uphill must ensure that this can be done, both uphill and downhill, without causing a dangerous situation for themselves and/or others.

6. Stopping

All skiers and snowboarders must try to avoid stopping in narrow or blind sections of slopes. Skiers and snowboarders must attempt to leave such places as soon as possible after a fall.

7. Climbing up or down

Skiers or snowboarders who climb up or down on foot must do so on the edges of the slope.

8. Watching out for the signs

Every skier and snowboarder must observe the markings and signals.

9. Helping others

Every skier and snowboarder is obliged to help others in the event of an accident.

10. Carrying an ID

In the event of an accident, every skier and snowboarder – whether a witness or involved in an accident and whether responsible or not – must present a valid ID.
