Yes, the upper Kaunertal is also easy to reach by public transport. Travel by train to Landeck-Zams railway station, then change to one of the buses serving the Kaunertal.

For skiers, the toll is included in every valid ski pass and season pass, as well as in the pedestrian sightseeing ticket.

Parking in our car parks is free of charge.

Yes. The ski bus is free with a valid ski pass. Pedestrians travelling to the Kaunertal Glacier by ski bus only pay the per-person road toll; there is no additional charge for the bus.

Yes. The Kaunertal Glacier Road is open daily, including Sundays and public holidays, from 7.00 am to 5.00 pm. The road is closed from 5.00 pm to 7.00 am.

The winter season at the Kaunertal Glacier begins on Saturday, 26 September 2026 and runs until Monday, 17 May 2027. The opening and closing dates may vary depending on snow conditions.

The lifts operate from 8.30 am to 4.00 pm. You can find the latest daily operating times under Operating times and in the lift status section of our website.

Your Kaunertal Glacier lift pass is also valid at Winterberg Fendels and the village lift in Feichten. It also includes the toll for the Kaunertal Glacier Road.

Yes. Your ski pass is valid without restriction in both ski areas. A Kaunertal ski pass gives you access to all lifts at the Pitztal Glacier, while a Pitztal ski pass gives you access to all lifts at the Kaunertal Glacier and Winterberg Fendels. This applies to all day and multi-day passes, with no surcharge and no additional card required. One pass, two glaciers and complete freedom on every piste.

Good to know: There is no ski-bus or shuttle service between the two glaciers. It is therefore best to plan to travel between the valleys by car. If you would like to ski in both areas throughout the entire season, the joint TOP4 season pass is also an excellent choice.

Yes. Discounted rates are available for children, young people, families and senior citizens aged 80 and over. Children under the age of eight ski free of charge.

For 20 paid lift passes, you receive a 10% discount and one free pass; for 40 passes, two free passes; and for 60 passes, three free passes. Group discounts are available only upon written request to kassa@tirolgletscher.com for groups of at least 20 people travelling together on a ski trip. Hotels and accommodation providers do not qualify as group organisers. Important for the Kaunertal: Please state in your enquiry whether the group will be using the ski bus.

Yes. Guests with a certified degree of disability of 60% or more pay the standard child rate for day and multi-day passes. Valid proof of disability is required. If an accompanying person is specified on the disability pass with the code ‘B’, they also receive the child rate. These tickets are available only on site upon presentation of the relevant documentation.

A flexi pass allows you to ski on six days within a seven-day period. The final day of validity is printed on the ski pass.

The road toll is already included in the pedestrian sightseeing ticket.

The area offers wide, spacious glacier pistes for everyone from beginners to professionals – from the village lift in Feichten for your first turns to the Black Ibex, the black run with the steepest gradient in Europe.

With a gradient of 87.85%, the Black Ibex is the steepest piste in Europe – steeper than the Streif in Kitzbühel.

Yes. Snowpark Kaunertal is located directly below the Karlesjochbahn lift and features, among other things, the longest jib line in the Alps, a kicker line and a natural run. It is open from early April and hosts events such as the Spring Classics. The funslope beside piste 15 offers waves, bends and a tunnel, providing fun for visitors of all ages.

Yes. The Kaunertal Glacier is a fully accessible ski area and has received the EDEN Award in recognition of this.

Yes. Away from the pistes, the freeride area offers a range of powder-snow routes. Popular ski-touring routes lead to destinations including the Glockturm and Weißseespitze. Winterberg Fendels also has its own ski-touring park.

Yes. The ascent follows the winter walking trail directly from the glacier car park. A free tubing run is also available.

Yes. Four electric-vehicle charging points are available at the Glacier Centre at 2,750 metres.

The Gletscher Card provides unlimited use of the Kaunertal Glacier and Kaunertal Glacier Road, the Pitztal Glacier and Rifflsee, as well as Sommerberg Fendels. Further details are available here.

The Karlesjochbahn cable car takes you comfortably and step-free to the Austrian–Italian border at 3,108 metres. In good visibility, the Three-Country View viewing platform even offers views as far as Lake Reschen.

Lake Ried, a popular swimming lake, lies at the foot of Sommerberg Fendels, while the cable car takes you up the mountain. At the top, you will find a mountain-cart trail of around 4.5 kilometres through forests and meadows, an adventure playground, walking trails, climbing and cycling opportunities, as well as a barefoot trail and forest bathing on the Mountain of the Senses.

The Weißsee Glacier Restaurant is located at around 2,700 metres and is open daily, 365 days a year, from 8.00 am to 4.30 pm.

No. Vouchers cannot currently be redeemed in the online ticket shop, which is used exclusively for purchasing ski tickets. You can buy and manage vouchers through our separate voucher portal.

Payments are encrypted and processed through our ticketing partner.

The chip card is included in the price, so there is no deposit to refund.

If you lose your card, you will need your confirmation email containing the blocking number or order ID. We will issue a new card for an administration fee of €25. Forgotten ski passes cannot generally be replaced; you will need to purchase a new day pass.

No. From first use, the ski pass is issued to a specific person and is non-transferable. If it is misused or passed on to another person, it will be confiscated and three times the applicable rate will be charged. The Family Card is an exception: for a small surcharge, a mother and father with a child aged three or under can take turns using one shared pass.

Bad weather alone does not entitle you to cancel free of charge. If the Kaunertal Glacier is closed, you can use your ski pass at Fendels, the Pitztal Glacier/Rifflsee or Nauders. From the third consecutive closure day, you can return your ticket to the lift ticket office and receive a voucher for the unused days, valid for one year from the date of issue. Season passes, annual passes and combined passes are excluded, and vouchers cannot be redeemed for cash.

Refunds are available only in the event of a skiing accident or illness and only for tickets valid for two days or more. The day on which the injury occurred is not refunded. Unused days are refunded on a pro-rata basis. A medical certificate issued by a doctor practising in the region is required. If a child is injured, one parent’s ticket may also be refunded as a gesture of goodwill.
