Open Faces Freeride Contest Kaunertal
The freeride elite from all over the world meet at the Kaunertal Glacier to show off their skills on the impressive slopes of the glacier. The Kaunertal is known as a true freeride paradise: countless lines, wide powder fields, and steep slopes up to over 3,000 meters offer ideal conditions for breathtaking runs.
The contest starting point at Nörderschartl at around 3,300 meters marks the beginning of one of the most spectacular freeride experiences in the Alps. The ascent leads from the Falginjochbahn mountain station over the west ridge – directly into a breathtaking backdrop of ice, snow, and adrenaline.

The combination of untouched terrain, high alpine surroundings, and sporting challenges makes the Kaunertal Glacier a unique stage for the Open Faces Freeride Series. Here, riders compete for valuable points to qualify for the Freeride World Tour—and thrill spectators with impressive skiing skills and pure passion for the sport.
